Intralipo Therapy – Face and Body Fat dissolving Injections
What is intralipo therapy? It is a treatment that can be used to target stubborn fat pockets in a number of areas. Intralipo therapy is a safe and effective fat dissolving injection treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area, it produces long lasting results, which means you can banish those annoying areas of stubborn fat.
Which areas can be treated? The most commonly treated areas are the hips, thighs, knees and ankles, the area underneath the buttocks, the stomach the back and the fat pad underneath the chin, but it can be used wherever stubborn fat is a problem, including the upper arms, face, man boobs, eye bags and lipomas (fatty lumps with in the skin).
More than one treatment is often required to obtain the desired results
Treatment regimeThe time taken for a treatment session will depend upon the size of the area and indication being treated.
Treatment can take between 30 – 60 minutes per treatment and you will typically require 2 – 8 treatments, 6 weeks apart. Some people may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions. Treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin, for example, may require 1 – 3 treatments of 2 – 3 application while treatment for fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require 8 treatments.
How long does it last? The results of an Intralipo therapy treatment are permanent under the condition of maintaining a constant weight measurement (assuming you don’t gain weight). Once the freed fatty acids have been processed through the body’s lymphatic system, they don’t reappear.However, the procedure is only permanent if you follow a healthy diet and exercise frequently following treatment. If you regain weight, it is likely that the fat pockets will reappear. If a healthy lifestyle is maintained, the results should be permanent.
What can I expect after treatment? Immediately after treatment you may appear red and swollen with some bruising on the treated area. Intralipo therapy works by causing an inflammatory reaction in the fat cells which can result in swelling for 3-5 days, therefore, if you intend to have a facial treatment, e.g. double chin where the swelling may be obvious, you may wish to organize time away from work or social engagements. The treated area may feel tender and firm for up to 8 weeks post treatment, but you will be able to reduce the swelling by using a cool pack wrapped in a clean cloth for a maximum of 20 minutes each day. We strongly recommend the use of compression garments following treatment.
During recovery we recommend that you avoid:
- Swimming pools, spas and saunas for 3 days.
- Physical exercise for 10 days.
- Any other aesthetic treatments for 2 weeks.
